Dear Ann,

Thank you so much for the wonderful puppet show held on March 1 at
Patterson Library. We had a great turnout – 58 people in the room,
all of them spellbound. The three performers who put on Caps for Sale
were great. They were funny, and professional and patient! On their
advice, we ended up having all of the kids sit on the floor, and only
provided a few chairs for parents and grandparents. It worked out
great, because the kids were so involved in the show that none of them
remembered to misbehave while their parents were a few rows away!
(Well, we had one boy who provided sort of a running commentary, but
the performers were not thrown off by it and eventually a parent told
him to pipe down!)

A great number of people who attended the show made a point to tell me
how much they loved it – kids and grownups alike. We had a scout
troop attend the show as part of their work toward a badge in
performing arts, and your performers took time with them, teaching
them how the show was put together and answering their questions.
They really go above and beyond, making the event truly a delight in
every way for everyone.

I will be sure to let all my colleagues in the area know what a great
experience we had with The Puppetree, and I hope we will be able to
bring you to the area again in the near future.

Yours,

Youth Services Coordinator

Vermont’s PuppeTree Inc. invites you to take a peek at THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW with 150 shadow puppets. We are touring from Halloween till Thanksgiving this fall 2012.

And we offer BLOCK BOOKING opportunities for more than one show at different locations.

This is a great show for your K-8th grade school or a night with the community. The shadow show runs 44 minutes and is narrated in Washington Irving’s exact words. The cost is $600 with no other fees like travel or milage. Take a quick peek at the show right now: http://vtpuppetree.org/?page_id=96

“The show was a visual candy store with a masterful integration of overhead and on screen puppetry. Hurray for a theater company that has kept the true spirit of an American classic and respects its audience enough to present a show with meat on its bones and not a lite version of a great story.”

—Steven M. Hollow, Director, Penny Pretzel Playhouse

What do Presenters say about this show
“Caps For Sale was wonderful! Of course, I like it because it is from a famous children’s book. But the puppetry and the pace were fantastic!
The sound and the lighting were great. Many parents of young children
said thank you on their way out of the Library today. Thank you for coming.”
The show is filled with visual surprises, puppets and audience participation for the youngest of children while older kids learn to look critically at the balance between home and work.

This intimate story time performance runs 35 minutes. It’s perfect for a corner of any room with small groups of small children sitting on the floor while Aunt Swelly tells her story and everyone get involved in her search for fame and fortune!

14 Carrots cost $250 and is booking now for Spring and Summer 2011.

MAKE AND TAKE AFTER THE SHOW—for $3 per child, (15-child minimum)—we can make finger puppets, color a scene from the story, and each child will have a small puppet stage with a finger puppet to take home. The PuppeTree furnishes everything, and we never charge travel fees.

Thanks for your performance of the Ugly Duckling at the Clifton Park – Halfmoon Public Library on August 10, 2011. It was a lively way to celebrate our summer readers’ success. Families and staff alike enjoyed your unique, humorous twists on the traditional tale. You brought much to the event; creative surprises such as the remote control bird ambulance , a wide variety of background music from Mussorgsky to Joplin, memorable characters such as Cutie, Patootie and the turkey vultures, and an important message about proper care of injured wildlife.

Thanks again for all the imagination, talent and enthusiasm you shared with our reading community. Last year the Albany Times Union readers voted us one of the top two libraries in the Capital District. Distinctive performances like yours help make our library a wonderful place for families.
